Jewelry Competition 2017
The Naja's 11th Annual Design Competition
Naja Tool & Supply 2017 Jewelry Design Competition & Sale
The Naja Tool & Supply is pleased to present its 11th annual jewelry design competition. This event is designed to excite creativity & reward excellence within the Colorado jewelry & metal artist community. We’ve chosen “Bugs” for the 2017 competition. Naja designs do not have to be traditional and can be sculptural.
Artists may enter their work in one of two categories: Professional/Amateur or Student. To enter as a student, you must be currently enrolled in a jewelry class & able to provide proof of such. First, second & third place cash prizes will be awarded in the Pro/Am category. First, second & third place Naja gift cards will be awarded in the Student category. No individual will be allowed to enter in both categories.
In addition to the competition, the Naja will host a sale of the entries to the general public at our annual Open House on June 24, 2017.
The competition is open to all professional, amateur and student jewelry artists residing in the USA. Employees of The Naja, their relatives & competition judges are ineligible to compete.
This competition is intended to encourage design excellence, therefore each entry must be all one’s own work (exclusive of gemstones & beads); 75% of the piece must be hand crafted.
Each entry will be judged on the basis of creativity, originality of design, execution of technique & functionality of the piece.
Forms & Entry Fees
Artists may enter up to five pieces. A $10 entry fee & completed entry form must be submitted with each piece. The Naja reserves the right to reject any inappropriate entry.
Dates & Deadlines
Application forms are available at the store or on our website (see the calendar of events page). The artists may submit their entries, with completed form & entry fee in person, by mail or UPS no later than Saturday, June 10, 2017, 4PM.
Judging will take place the following week. Please do not call us for the results. Beginning the week before our Open House, all entries will be displayed in the store, available for sale (If the artist so chooses). Prize-winning entries will be displayed with award ribbons during that time. Prizes will be presented to the artists at the Naja Open House on June 24, 2017.
Professional/Amateur Category: first place: $200 cash, second place: $150 cash, third place: $100 cash.
Student Category: first place $150 gift card, second place: $100 gift card, third place: $75 gift card.
The Naja will offer the artists’ entries for sale on a consignment basis from June 10, through June 24, the day of the Naja Open House. Pieces need to remain in the possession of the Naja through Saturday, June 24, 2017. The split will be 90% to the artist, 10% to The Naja. Artists must indicate on their entry form acceptance of these terms & must indicate the retail price of the piece. Payments to the artists will be settled by July1, 2017.
Return of Unsold Entries
All pieces not sold by June 24, 2017 must be picked up no later than July 15, 2017.
